About us

R&I Genetics was founded in 1999 as a research laboratory for neurological and neurodegenerative diseases. From the earliest years, it was clear to governance that research in genetics is crucial for understanding the aetiological processes underlying numerous diseases of the central nervous system, and already in the very early 2000s it was equipped with the very first 'omics' technologies for studying gene expression. At the same time, an operational division for molecular diagnostics was opened to deal mainly with the monogenic diseases investigated at that time.

In the very early 2010s, thanks to the know-how acquired in the 'omics' field, already backed by numerous publications, and the advent of NGS sequencing technologies, R&I Genetics was among the first in Italy to apply new sequencing technologies to molecular diagnostics.

Today, R&I Genetics is an advanced genetics laboratory, specialised in the genomic diagnosis of hereditary diseases, accredited with the National Health Service since 2015, based in Padua and collaborating with leading Italian hospitals and universities.

Over the past decade, R&I Genetics has invested in state-of-the-art instrumentation, automation, software, hardware and proprietary databases, but above all in its people, whose scientific training and professionalism represent the laboratory's main strength.
